"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. " | Socrates
One of the best most challenging journeys you will ever go on is seeing what your body is able to do. There might be a chance you are in shape, completely out of shape, or just looking to lose some weight. However, developing a body that you can be proud, one that is very healthy, and lets you truly love every last piece of it actually is an amazing journey to undertake.
So what's the secret to making an enduring change with your body?
Consistency and commitment.
There's nothing else like coming to the table each day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you may become unmotivated and discouraged. As an alternative understand you're competing against and with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But each time you do, you need to come back with a dedication to achieving something you really wanted. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each and every day. Without it, you may suffer the the inescapable and bad reality of many new years resolutioners who give up every single year on developing the body of their dreams because they are missing the personal power to keep on coming back again and againand again.
Commitment also suggests itself, although not the commitment you're possibly thinking of. In our world, we are fed this idea that everything must take place at the moment and if it does not occur now, it is not worth it at all. Your body is going to drastically change acrossthe years, so why don't you make a lifetime commitment to remaining healthy? Is that a sexy packageable idea? Not particularly. But is it something that would actually change the course of your life? Totally.
When you make a commitment to keeping your body healthy through your entire life, you will ultimately reach whatever goal you wish. It's about seeing the overall picture than merely the few months in front of you until the summer. It's honestly about developing something that you truly can be happy with for ever and ever. For me, that new concept made my life different as I was able to finally hit my health goals after 12 years of fighting with my body image and food issues. But as soon as I changed my world view of what I was attempting to attain, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it might work for you. Make a total commitment to remaining healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term too.
Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all facets of your life, and things will change radically.
